Monmouth Blanks Maryland Eastern Shore

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In their first road test of the season, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Tennis dropped their nonconference matchup at Monmouth, 7-0.

With the setback, Maryland Eastern Shore goes to 0-3 overall while Monmouth improved to 4-8 on the season.

In singles play, sophomores Alese Brown and Datonya Price were the lone Hawks to earn a point. All six Lady Hawks were swept in straight sets.

In doubles competition, Brown and senior Melequa King took a game from Monmouth’s No. 1 team, Adriana Armendariz and Kendal Kauffman, before falling, 6-1.

UMES heads to Baltimore on Friday where the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds await. First-serve is 4 p.m.
