NORFOLK, Va. — Florida A&M juniors Walner Espinoza and Shantal Blackwood were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week, the conference announced today. Hampton’s Charles Hudson and Norfolk State’s Marta Gomar earned Men’s and Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week honors.
Espinoza (Jr., Panama City, Panama) went 2-0 in singles and doubles action, against South Carolina State. He posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory, in the No. 4 singles spot, against Jan Brenk.
Blackwood (Jr., Panama City, Panama) posted a 2-0 mark in singles and doubles play, against South Carolina State. She rallied for a 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Oleksandra Filippova.
Hudson (Fr., Wellington, New Zealand) registered a 4-0 mark in singles and doubles action, against Howard and Longwood. He earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Myron Davis of Howard.
Gomar (Fr., Valencia, Spain) picked up two wins, against Coppin State, in singles and doubles play. She posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tanna Nita, at the No. 3 spot.

Dajana Cvjetkovic (NSU) defeated Ashley Milo, of Coppin State, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 singles position.
Benedikt Henning (NSU) went 2-0 in singles and doubles play, at the No. 1 spot, against Coppin State.
Antonio Pejic (NSU) posted two victories over Coppin State, in singles and doubles play, at the No. 2 spot.
Miguel Suarez (HAM) went 4-0, against Howard and Longwood, in singles and doubles play.
Evan Ward (MSU) registered two wins, in singles and doubles action, against North Carolina A&T State and St. Joseph’s.
