MEAC COMPLETES DAY ONE OF 2016 BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) completed the first day of the 2016 MEAC Bowling Championship at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The eight-team field competed in five traditional team games to determine seeding for the championship tournament. Seedings were based on won-loss record in Friday’s competition.

Delaware State earned the top seed heading into tomorrow’s action after rolling 4,702 total pins and posting a 5-0 mark. The Lady Hornets will face Florida A&M in match one.

Maryland Eastern Shore earned the second seed with a 4-1 record and 4,633 total pinfall. The Hawks will meet Morgan State in match three.

North Carolina A&T State captured the third seed (4,647), followed by Howard (4,350) in fourth. Bethune-Cookman is the fifth seed with a total pinfall of 4,473. Norfolk State (4,262), Morgan State (4,220) and Florida A&M (4,251) earned the sixth through eighth seeds, respectively.

No. 4 Howard will take on the No. 5 Bethune-Cookman in match two, while No. 3 North Carolina A&T State will face No. 6 Norfolk State in match four.

Matches begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. with teams competing in a best-of-seven Baker series.

The MEAC bowling championship wraps up on Sunday with the championship final at 12:00 p.m. The championship match will be televised in a tape-delayed format and will air on ESPNU on Sunday, April 3 at 11:00 p.m.

Admission to the bowling championship is free and open to the public.
