MEAC TO HOST 2016 BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP

NORFOLK, Va.  - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host its 2016 MEAC Bowling Championship, March 25-27, at the AMF Chesapeake Lanes in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Maryland Eastern Shore, Delaware State, Morgan State and Howard qualified from the northern division, while North Carolina A&T State, Norfolk State, Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M earned championship slots from the southern division. 

Maryland Eastern Shore, the three-time MEAC Tournament defending champion, captured their seventh northern divisional title with an 18-6 mark in MEAC play. The Lady Hawks rallied past Delaware State on the final weekend of the regular season to take the northern crown. UMES finished the regular season with an overall record of 73-39.

North Carolina A&T State finished atop the division with a 19-5 conference record en route to the southern crown by 3.5 games over Norfolk State University. The Aggies finished the regular season with a MEAC best record of 75-35.

Only the top four teams from each division are eligible to compete in the championship tournament. Coppin State (6-64) and Hampton (25-43) were eliminated from postseason play.

The tournament begins Friday with a qualifying round of traditional play to determine seeding. The action continues on Saturday with teams competing in a best-of-seven Baker series in a bracket format.

The 2016 MEAC Bowling Championship will conclude on Sunday, March 27 with the championship final at 12:00 pm. The championship finale will air tape-delayed on ESPNU on Sunday, April 3 at 11:00 p.m.
