Jags Sit Sixth To Open Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars shot five-under par (283) in round one as a team on Sunday to open the Linger Longer Invitational in sixth place at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

The 11th annual LLI, hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, began on the par-72, 7,073-yard course with the opening 18 holes. The tournament includes Alabama, Augusta, Baylor, Charlotte, Georgia, co-host Kennesaw State, Louisville, co-host Mercer, Missouri, Purdue, South Alabama, UNCG, and Virginia.

Tee times started off No. 1 and No. 10 at 8:30 a.m. and No. 25 Purdue leads the 13-team field by one stroke at 11-under par. Kennesaw State holds second place (-10), No. 21 Virginia (-9) is third, and No. 12 Alabama and No. 26 Baylor are six under to round out the top five.

Augusta sophomore Broc Everett fired a four-under 68 to pace the Jags and earn a tie for fifth out of 77 athletes. Everett posted six birdies with five on the back nine, while senior Robin Petersson shot one stroke behind Everett with a 69 (-3) to tie for seventh.

Senior Maverick Antcliff’s round-two 72 finished him even on the day put him in a tie for 29th, while juniors Emmanuel Kountakis and Jake Marriott concluded the Jags top five. Kountakis shot 74 (+2) to sit tied for 42nd and Marriott posted a 76 (+4) to tie for 56th.

Jags junior Cooper Brown competed as an individual and is tied for 56 with a 76 (+4) as well in round one.

Augusta is six shots off the lead and begins round two on Monday, March 21.
