SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (10-17) lost both games in a doubleheader to University at Buffalo (6-19) losing 6-3 in game one and 9-0 in game two at the Lady Tiger Softball Field.
Sophomore shortstop Brianna Harris led the team going 4-for-8 at the plate, while junior third baseman Tia Bolden, junior left fielder Chasney Jenkins, senior first baseman Torrian Wright each recorded three hits in both games.
In game one, Jenkins, Harris, Wright and Bolden each recorded two hits, while Bolden added a run scored and RBI, Jenkins added a run scored and Wright added two RBIs. Freshman pitcher Katie Johnson (3-2) picked up the loss pitching the first four innings giving up two earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts, while sophomore pitcher Ashley Eichenlaub pitched the final three innings giving up three earned runs on four hits.
In game two, Harris led the team going 2-for-4 at the plate, while Jenkins, Singleton, Wright, Bolden and Lillis each recorded a hit. On the mound, junior pitcher Amanda Hallman (5-8) picked up the loss pitching the first three innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits, while freshman Faith Dickerson pitched the final four innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., for their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series against Bethune-Cookman starting with a doubleheader.
