Towson Takes 7-0 win over Savannah State

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Savannah State University women’s tennis (0-16) fell to Towson University (7-4) 7-0 Wednesday at the CofC Tennis Center.

The Lady Tigers lost all three doubles matches as SSU’s doubles duo of Sandy Lochu and Elizabeth Geronimo fell to TU’s doubles team of Nicole Shakhnazarova and Barbora Vasilkova 7-5 at the No. 1 doubles position, while SSU’s doubles team of Rachida Kateb and Jennyfer Vivas fell to TU’s doubles duo of Lucy Williams and Lucy Gloninger 6-3 at the No. 2 doubles position and SSU’s doubles duo of Bria Burrows and Tiffany Williams fell to TU’s doubles team of Yevgeniya Shusterman and A.J. Gomer 6-1 at the No. 3 doubles position.

Lochu fell to Shakhnazarova 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position, while Geronimo was retired at the No. 2 singles position to Lucy Williams after losing 6-2 in the first set and Kateb fell to Vasilkova 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position.

Burrows lost 6-0 in the first set and was trailing 3-0 in the second set before she was retired to Gomer at the No. 4 singles position, while Vivas fell to Gloninger 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position and Williams fell to Renate van Oorschodt 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles position.

The Lady Tigers return home for a three-match homestand starting with the University of Southern Mississippi Friday at 2 p.m. at the Tiger Tennis Courts.
