Georgia Tech Rallies past Lady Eagles

ATLANTA, Ga.—Junior designated player Dominique Wilson provided North Carolina Central University with a pair of one-run leads but host Georgia Tech scored the game’s final two runs to prevail 3-2 in non-conference softball action at Shirley Clements Mewborn Field Monday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 6-14 overall. The Lady Eagles were unable to build upon their first win of the season to slip to 1-19. The two teams will meet again for another single game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. that was just scheduled after NCCU’s doubleheader at Alabama A&M University was cancelled due to wet field conditions in Huntsville.

Sophomore starter Emily Anderson held NCCU to just three hits while striking out a career-high 14 batters in the complete-game victory.

Junior Jennifer Allison and senior London Booker gave the Lady Eagles a great chance from the pitcher’s circle. Allison (0-8) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits while fanning three over 4-plus innings of work. Booker got the final six outs without giving up a run.

Junior Jenny Tracy accounted for NCCU’s final hit with a leadoff single in the sixth but the runner was eliminated from the base paths on a double play.
