Bethune Women Earn Win Over N.C. A&T

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ancia Ifill had her on-the-court senior moment, and Mina Matsuba and Bethune-Cookman kept their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference streaks going with a 6-1 victory over North Carolina A&T Monday.

Rain ended Ifill’s Senior Day on Sunday just after her pre-match ceremony. When play resumed, she combined with Alejandra Vidal for a doubles victory and delivered the clinching fourth point in singles as the Lady Wildcats (8-9 overall, 2-0 MEAC) won their third straight and sixth in their last eight.

Matsuba remained unbeaten lifetime (14-0 singles, 11-0 doubles in regular season plat as the Lady Wildcats won their 15th regular season conference match dating back to 2013.

Freshmen Hilary Hanton and Karen Romero each improved to 2-0 in conference play for the Lady Wildcats, who host North Carolina Central Tuesday at 10 a.m. The men follow at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last season’s conference tournament semifinals.
