NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton junior Malia Tate-DeFreitas was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. K’lynn Willis, of Hampton, earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State’s Siobhan Beslow and Savannah State’s Tiyonda Davis were selected as Co-Defensive Players of the Week.
Tate-DeFreitas (G, 5-9, Jr., Harrisburg, Pa.) shot 62-percent (10-of-16) from the floor and 75-percent (3-of-4) from behind the arc in a 76-55 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. She finished with 31 points, including eight from the free-throw line, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and four steals in 38 minutes of action.
Willis (G, 5-3, Fr., Detroit, Mich.) shot 53-percent (8-of-15) from the floor and 75-percent (3-of-4) from the free-throw line in a 76-55 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore. She finished with 21 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 31 minutes of action.
Beslow (F, 5-11, r-Sr., Norfolk, Va.) recorded 19 rebounds and two blocks in a 110-108 double-overtime victory over Howard. Offensively, she had 15 points, on 6-of-9 shooting, and two assists.
Davis (C, 6-4, Jr., Athens, Ga.) totaled 31 rebounds, 10 blocks and one steal against Bethune-Cookman and Morgan State. She notched a career-high 21 boards and three blocks against Morgan State. Offensively, she posted two double-doubles during the week, with 10 points in both contests.

Imani Bailey (HOW) posted a career-high 37 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, against Norfolk State.
Ciani Byrom (UMES) averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, against Howard and Hampton.
Kendra Cooper (B-CU) totaled 38 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals, in wins over Savannah State and Delaware State.
Aaliyah Davis (DSU) recorded a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, with one assist, one block and two steals, against Bethune-Cookman.
Braennan Farrar (MSU) tallied 26 points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals, in a 66-60 win over Savannah State.
Yazmen Hannah (NSU) finished with a career-high 20 points, including four 3-pointers, in a 110-108 double-overtime win over Howard.
Sydni Johnson (HOW) totaled 27 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals, against Maryland Eastern Shore and Norfolk State.
Aprill McRae (NCAT) registered 10 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter, while adding eight rebounds, in a 76-54 win over North Carolina Central.
JaQuanna Murray (SCSU) blocked a career-high six shots, with four rebounds, in a 67-63 win over Coppin State.
Kiara Phillips (NSU) tallied 21 points, including three 3-pointers, five rebounds, five assists and one steal in a double-overtime victory over Howard.
Keena Samuels (CSU) posted 23 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal, against Morgan State.
Alexis Udoji (UMES) finished with five points, six boards, one assist, eight blocks and two steals, in a 62-59 win over Howard.
Kailyn Williams (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, with three assists, three blocks and one steal in a 50-44 win over Savannah State.
