BCU Snags First Win Of 2016 Over Cross-Town Foe

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A revised doubles line-up helped Bethune-Cookman take its first win of the season Tuesday with a 6-3 victory at cross-town rival Embry-Riddle.

The new doubles pairs of Mina Matsuba/Matea Roki and Ancia Ifill/Alejandra Vidal gave the Lady Wildcats an early 2-1 lead after doubles. B-CU was 2-4 in doubles play in its first two matches.

Karen Romero posted her first win of the season to give the Lady Wildcats a 3-1 advantage, followed by a Vidal win. Matsuba clinchéd the victory with a No. 1 singles over Hui-I Huang. Roki concluded the play with a tiebreaker victory. 

The men’s teams battle Wednesday, and the Lady Wildcats return to action Sunday against FIU in DeLand.
