NORFOLK, Va. — North Carolina A&T State’s Raven Gray was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Hampton’s Allyson Babinsack earned Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Ashley Grassini earned Rookie of the Week.
Gray (OF, 5-4, So., Forest City, N.C.) registered a .533 batting average in five games. She finished with eight hits, including two doubles and scored three times. She notched at least one hit in every game. Also, she had four stolen bases.
Allyson Babinsack (P, 5-11, So., Hampton, Va.) earned two victories over the weekend. She posted a 3.21 ERA in 14.0 innings pitched, allowing only five runs and striking out six.
Ashley Grassini (C/3B, 5-9, Fr., Merrimack, N.H.) went 4-for-11 at the plate, including two home runs, with three runs scored and four RBIs. She batted .444 in a win over Hartford.
Other Top Performers
Annie Banekhaus (B-CU) went 7-for-17, with one double, two runs scored and two RBIs in six games.
Mariah Davis (B-CU) batted .471 (8-for-17) with three RBIs and three runs scored in six games.
Shelby Eccles (SSU) went 6-for-10, at the USC Upstate Tournament, including six hits and one double.
Cortni Jones (SSU) recorded four hits, including one triple and one home run, at the USC Upstate Tournament.
Zadaisha Young-Waddell (NCAT) batted .385, in five games, with two runs scored and four RBIs.
