Hampton Drops 7-0 Decision To Richmond

NORFOLK, VA. – The Hampton University men’s tennis team finished off its opening weekend taking on the University of Richmond Spiders at the Folkes-Stevens Center on the campus of Old Dominion University and lost a 7-0 decision on Sunday night.

The doubles matches were tight, but the Spiders prevailed in a pair of 7-5 decisions and winning a tiebreaker for the third flight to take the doubles point.

In singles, Matthew Foster-Estwick lost at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-4 to Jacob Dunbar while Joshua McQueen lost by the same score to James Aronson at No. 5.   Peter Odegbami dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 2 in the three tightly contested singles matches on the night.

Hampton will be back in action on Friday night in the Folkes-Stevens Center taking on the host ODU Monarchs at 6 pm.
