DELAND, Fla. — Angel Golden scored 21 points as Bethune-Cookman Women's Basketball defeated SIU-Edwardsville 83-78 in the Hatter Classic on Tuesday afternoon inside the Edmunds Center on the campus of Stetson University.

Taylor Houston scored 17, Kailyn Williams 16 and Kanesha Battle 14 as the Wildcats (4-7) scored 31 points in the first quarter en route to a season-high team effort in the scoring department.

Kailyn Williams, who also had nine rebounds and five blocks on the day, was named to the all-tournament team.

Presbyterian 72, North Carolina Central 63

DURHAM, N.C. — Sophomore guard Rodneysha Martin scored a career-high 16 points for the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team, but visiting Presbyterian College fought back from an eight-point halftime deficit to win Tuesday afternoon’s clash, 72-63, in McDougald-McLendon Arena.

Martin scored her team-high 16 points on 4-of-6 precision from the field, including a trio of 3-pointers, and 5-of-6 accuracy from the free throw line. She also tallied three assists, two blocks, one steals and one rebound.

Senior Morgan Jones was one point behind Martin with 15 points. Jones has scored in double figures in six of 10 games, including three straight showings on the hardwood.

Sophomore Deja McCain chipped in eight points and a team-high seven rebounds for the maroon and gray. Classmates Dominique Adams and Jayla Calhoun each added six points.

WINTER PARK, Fla. — The FAMU Women’s Basketball team suffered from cold shooting here Tuesday evening, as they dropped an 80-49 decision to Stony Brook (N.Y.) in the Florida Sunshine Classic in the Alfond Sports Center at Rollins College.

Junior guard Dawn King led FAMU with nine points, followed by senior guard Cedricka Sweeting with eight points, junior forward Shakerrya Morrison with seven points, and junior forward Alicia McCray with seven rebounds.
