CHIEVOUS SELECTED BY NBA D-LEAGUE?S ENERGY

DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Hampton University basketball standout Quinton Chievous was selected in the 2016 NBA D-League Draft on Sunday, going No. 11 overall to the Iowa Energy.

Chievous, who was a First Team All-MEAC selection last season, helped the Pirates win back-to-back MEAC Tournament titles in his two seasons with the team. In 2016-17, he led the conference in rebounding (10. 7 rpg) and ranking in the top five in scoring (17.0 ppg).

He had 12 double-doubles last season.
 
He also had 29 points against Delaware State on Feb. 29 of last season. Chievous, who averaged 15.0 points and 9.7 rebounds in the MEAC Tournament, was named to the All-Tournament Team.

He was BoxToRow's National Player of the Week on Jan. 27.
 
Chievous was also a Second Team All-State selection, as named by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

In Chievous' two seasons at Hampton, the Pirates won a combined 38 games and went a combined 21-11 in conference play.
