MEAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

North Carolina Central’s Patrick Cole and Bethune-Cookman’s Brandon Tabb were named co-MEAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week, the conference announced today.  Morgan State’s Phillip Carr was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week while Hampton’s Jermaine Morrow was named Rookie of the Week.

Cole picked up his second consecutive weekly honor as he averaged 32 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Eagles defeated Northern Kentucky last week. The Newark, N.J. native also shot 80 percent (8-of-10) from the charity stripe, 50 percent from the three-point line and logged 37 minutes of action as North Carolina Central is 3-2 on the season.

Tabb had an all-around performance last week as he averaged 26 points and 7.7 rebounds. The Hampton, Va. native had three huge games last week as he scored 29 points in a triple overtime affair at San Diego followed by 25 points versus Nicholls State and 24 at Samford. Tabb led the MEAC in three-pointers made with 15 followed by three blocked shots. He also had a busy week on the hardwood as he led the MEAC in minutes played with 41.3 per game.

Carr continued his solid play on the court as the forward from Brooklyn, N.Y. pulled down 8.5 rebounds and averaged 1.5 blocked shots to go along with 16.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting. Carr’s best outing last week occurred against Brown as he finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Morrow averaged 14.3 points last week in three games while shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc. Against Stony Brook on Saturday, Nov. 26, Morrow scored 25 points while connecting on 4-of-7 three-pointers.
