NORFOLK, Va. — Freshman guard Jada Blow cashed in 28 points to account for over half of the Lady Eagles points in an 83-52 non-conference road loss for the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team against host Old Dominion University on Sunday afternoon at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

To go along with her scoring, Blow grabbed four rebounds, handed out four assists and made two steals.

ODU started the contest on a 14-nil run and lead coast-to-coast. Senior guard Jennie Simms

Senior Morgan Jones totaled seven points for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Dominique Adams chipped in six points and secured a team-high seven rebounds.

Hampton 58, Lafayette 55

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Senior Malia Tate-DeFreitas hit two free throws with 5.1 seconds left and blocked a game-tying 3-point attempt as Hampton University rallied from a seven-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Lafayette College 58-55 in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge Sunday at the Mass Mutual Center.

 Earning game Most Valuable Player honors, Tate-DeFreitas ended with 22 points and five assists.  She is now fifth on the all-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference scoring list with 2.066 points.

Jephany Brown was the other double figure scorer with season highs in points (10), steals (5) and added seven boards.

Hartford 61, Norfolk State 51

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Norfolk State women’s basketball team finished second at the Christmas City Classic after a 61-51 loss to Hartford in the championship game Sunday afternoon at Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University.

 Junior forward Kayla Roberts paced the Spartans (2-4) with her second straight double-double. She scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while senior guard Dominique Harper added 11 points off the bench.

Roberts and senior guard Jordan Strode were named to the Christmas City Classic All-Tournament Team.
