BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Freshman guard Jada Blow led the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team with seven points and two assists in a 61-30 road loss to Campbell University on Tuesday.

Blow was just 1-of-10 from the field, but she was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, in leading the Lady Eagles in scoring for the second time in four contests. Junior Kierona Morton and sophomore Deja McCain were the only two NCCU players to make more than one field goal in scoring six and five points, respectively. Freshman Paulina Afriyie paced the Lady Eagles with six rebounds and McCain finished with five boards.

Hampton 58, Maine 49

COLUMBIA, S.C. – After a frigid start, Hampton used a pair of big runs to get ahead as the Lady Pirates defeated Maine 58-49 in day three of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday.

Malia Tate-DeFreitas scored 24 points with five rebounds and four assists.   She passed Cathy Robinson, of Florida A&M, for sixth now on the all-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference scoring list as she now has 2,044 points. 

Kaylah Lupoe recorded the first double-double of the season for Hampton with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Bates matched her season high with nine points.

Hofstra 64, Delaware State 44

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Delaware State hit less than a-third of its shots, including just 2-of-19 from three-point range in a 64-44 wire-to-wire women's basketball loss to Hofstra at the Mack Sports Complex this evening.

Freshman Gennell Addison came off the bench to lead Delaware State with a career-high nine points.

DSU's NaJai Pollard was held to eight points on 4-of-12 shooting from the field, although she did lead the Lady Hornets with 12 rebounds, marking the fourth time in five games that she has reached double figures in boards.

 Iowa State 74, Savannah State 51

AMES, Iowa – Graduate student guard Lauren “Gaby” Moss and senior center Tiyonda Davis combined for 25 points as Savannah State University women’s basketball team (2-2) fell to Iowa State University (4-0) 74-51 in Holton Coliseum Tuesday night.

Davis scored 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the floor and added four rebounds and three blocks, while Moss led the team with 13 points, including eight in the final quarter, and added three assists. 

Senior forward Jeremica Edwards led the team with nine rebounds and added six points, two assists and two blocks and senior guard Kenyata Hendrix added nine points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Eastern Illinois 66, Florida A&M 50

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Visiting Eastern Illinois staged a second quarter scoring surge that carried them to a 66-50 victory over the FAMU Women’s Basketball team at The Al Lawson Center Tuesday night.

Shakerrya Morrison led FAMU with 11 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots, while Ny’Asia Davis added 10 points, four blocks and four rebounds.

Jalisha Smith turned in a double-double for EIU with 19 points and 17 rebounds, followed by Erica Brown with 11 points and Allison Van Dyke with 10 points and nine boards.

West Virginia 80, North Carolina A&T State 64

SAVANNAH, Ga. – North Carolina A&T State women’s basketball took on No. 19 West Virginia in the Savannah Invitational at the Savannah Civic Center on Tuesday night, losing to the Mountaineers 80-64.

Leadership was strong with the Aggie veterans on Tuesday as both Dana Brown and Aliyah Kilpatrick scored in the double figures. Brown finished with 22 points, including going 5-for-10 from 3-point range and Kilpatrick added 17 points with two blocks and five steals.
