COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Desmond Williams scored 16 points and K’Ja Johnson added 15 points for the FAMU Men’s Basketball team in a Sunday afternoon loss to the Air Force Academy at McClune Arena.
Cold shooting hampered the visiting Rattlers (2-2), which trailed 39-25 at the half thanks to their shooting 26.5 percent (9 of 34) from the floor and 16 percent (2 of 12) from distance.
Unbeaten Air Force (4-0) shot 43.3 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range in the first half, but dialed up the heat in the second half, shooting 60 percent to FAMU’s improved 44 percent from the floor, and they were near perfect 20 of 22 from the foul line in the final stanza, as they surged past FAMU, 48-37.
In addition to his team-high 16 points, Desmond Williams hauled down a game-high eight rebounds for FAMU, which struggled as leading scorer Craig Bowman was slowed by foul trouble, finishing with five points before fouling out in 11 minutes of play.
