BALTIMORE, Md. – Coach Fred Batchelor and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s basketball team shot 58-percent (11-of-19) from beyond the arc as they took down in-state foe UMBC, 70-57, inside the RAC Arena.

Overall, the Hawks (2-1) shot a respectable 43-percent (24-of-56) from the floor and took care of the ball with only seven giveaways.

All 10 Hawks who played scored, led by sophomore guard Ciani Byrom registering a game-high 19 points and nine dimes. Additionally, the North Carolina product recorded four long balls in the win.

Other notable Hawk performances included center Tori Morris scoring a season-high 10 points while Mariah McCoy and Keyera Eaton each tallied nine points in the victory.
