PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Freshman Iva Vujosevic led the way with 14 kills, seven digs, two assists, two blocks and an ace as the Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team won their fourth straight match in straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-14) over Coppin State Sunday in Princess Anne.
The win improves the Hawks to 11-10 (4-1 MEAC) while the Eagles fall to 1-18 (1-4 MEAC).
Along with Vujosevic’s impressive performance, which included a 52 percent success rate on attacks, the Hawks also received exceptional efforts from freshman Ivana Blazevic and her 30 assists with eight digs and a match high five aces. Sophomores Zuzana Ondruskova and Koya Sowells reached double figures in digs with 14 and 13, respectively.

DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore libero Bree Simmons highlighted play for host North Carolina Central University with 11 digs in a straight-set loss to defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division champion Bethune-Cookman University at Charles E. Jordan High School Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats hit .319 in completing the 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20) triumph. Bethune-Cookman (4-16 Overall, 3-2 MEAC) moved over .500 in the league and jumped ahead of NCCU (3-10, 2-2) in the standings.
Simmons reached double-digit digs for the seventh time this season with her team-high 11 digs.
The senior duo of Casey Curran and Kelsey Murphy led NCCU’s attack with nine and eight kills, respectively. Sophomore Whitney White followed with five kills and two block assists. Murphy toyed with a double-double with her eight kills and nine digs. Junior Paige Phillips tallied 21 assists.
Bethune-Cookman’s Alana Handy was hard to stop as she crushed 18 kills on 33 swings with just three errors for a .455 hitting percentage. Jai Chapman chipped in eight kills and a match-high 13 digs. Sophomore setter J’nai Higgins totaled 34 assists, four aces and three block assists.
