Atakilti Leads SSU At Sand Shark Invitational

HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The Savannah State University men's cross country team finished 10th out of 23 teams competing in the 2016 ASICS Sand Shark Invitational which was hosted by the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Sahlu Atakilti led the Tigers in the 8k meet with a time of 26:27.45 to finish 30th overall.Cameron Pack posted a time of 26:43.35 for 46th place while Michael Smith finished 59th with a run of 27:06.47.

Rounding out the SSU runners were Abbas Abbkar, Kenneth Nealy and Markendy Pierre.

Abbkar finished 68th while be timed at 27:20.08, Nealy was 127th with a time of 28:59.27 and Pierre had a time of 30:14.61 to finish 154th.

The Savannah College of Art & Design won the meet with a score of 74 while Sam Beal of Cumberlands was the top runner with a time of 24:33.98.

SSU posted a team score of 296.
