WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Howard volleyball team improved to 4-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) after taking down Coppin State in three sets on Sunday afternoon at Burr Gym.
The Bison had three players reach double figures in kills, led by junior Khaila Donaldson with 14. Sophomore Courtney Dalton followed up with 13 kills and junior Jessica Young added 10 kills to the mix. Sophomore Tamia Dockery handed out 38 assists, her 14th match of the season with at least 30 helpers.
On defense, senior Morgan Marlbrough tallied 13 digs and Dalton posted four blocks. Seniors Dominique Cleggett and Whitney Fields had three blocks apiece.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team tallied season-high marks of 14 blocks and a .222 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep of host Savannah State University to remain perfect in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division play Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles start 2-0 in the league for the first time since joining the MEAC in 2011 and improved to 3-8 overall with the 25-23, 25-11, 25-17 victory. The Lady Tigers are winless on the season at 0-20 overall and 0-4 in conference skirmishes.
Sophomore Jazmine Daye and freshman Nia Singletary both posted career-high block totals. Daye led the way with three solo blocks and four block assists and Singletary followed with five block assists.
Junior setter Paige Phillips posted her second double-double of the season with a match-high 23 assists and 13 digs. Kelsey Murphy scooped a team- and season-best 14 digs while sophomore libero Bree Simmons and Casey Curran also reached double-figure digs with 11 and 10, correspondingly. Curran and Simmons launched two kills apiece.
Senior Caitlynn Masoe flirted with triple-double numbers with box score totals of eight kills, nine assists and seven digs to pace Savannah State. Senior libero Alexis Washington topped all players with 16 digs and junior setter Alee Quint tacked on 17 assists and nine digs.
Maryland Eastern Shore 3, Hampton 1
HAMPTON, Va. — In a match that could have easily gone in the opposite direction, Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball averted a 2-0 deficit from five points down in the second set to win before rallying to win in four sets (21-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-13) over the Hampton Pirates at Holland Hall in Virginia on Sunday. The victory improves the Hawks’ record to 9-10 (2-1 MEAC) while Hampton falls to 3-14 (2-2 MEAC).
Sophomore Lucia Babic dominated all match long, finishing with 17 kills against just one error for an astonishing 55 percent success rate on attacks. Babic also delivered six of the team’s ten aces, the most for any Hawk since Petra Jerabkova achieved the feat last November against Delaware State.
Maryland Eastern Shore was also aided by 25 assists from freshman Ivana Blazevic and four blocks, including three solos, from senior Mere Serea. Junior Kirstin Fink matched Serea with four blocks of her own, two of which were solo.
Hampton was led by a match high 23 kills from Reeana Richardson and 14 digs from libero Summer Humes.
