BALTIMORE, Md. – Former Coppin State University women’s basketball forward Janelle Lane has signed a contract overseas with Forssan Alku club of the top Finnish league in Finland to begin her professional basketball career.
Lane was named to the 2015-16 All-MEAC Third Team and also received 2016 All-MEAC Women's Basketball Tournament Team honors. She played and started all 32 games for the Eagles and was Coppin State's second best scorer putting in 10.9 points per game and grabbing 5.0 rebounds per contest. She stood first on the team and 11th in the MEAC in blocks with 34. Lane reached double figures in scoring a team-best 21 times, while posting two double-doubles, including a career best 23 points and nine rebounds against Delaware State (Feb. 15) and a career-high 13 rebounds and 13 points against Howard (Feb. 13).
In her first game on Oct. 1, she scored six points on 3-of-4 made shots from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. She was inserted into the starting lineup on Oct. 5 in her last game scoring 17 points with seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
