NORFOLK, Va. — James Daniel, III of Howard and Eric Eaves of South Carolina State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced today. C.J. Wiggins, of North Carolina Central, earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman’s LaRon Smith was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Daniel (G, 5-11, 165, Jr., Hampton, Va.) totaled 65 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks in two non-conference games last week. Against Columbia, Daniel notched 36 points, hitting 16-of-17 free-throws. He also shot 50-percent from the arch, on the way to 29 points and four assists against Hawaii.
Eaves (G, 6-3, Jr., Columbia S.C.) averaged 19.5 points, shooting 52-percent (13-of-25) from the field, against Akron and Miami (Ohio). He came off the bench to record a team-high 23 points, five rebounds and three assists, in 30 minutes of action in a non-conference win over Miami (OH).
Wiggins (G, 5-11, 170, Fr., Richmond, Va.) poured in a career-high 17 points, connecting on 6-of-9 shots, in a win against Montreat. Also, he had a career-high six assists in 23 minutes of action.
Smith (F, 6-8, 215, Jr., Palm Bay, Fla.) totaled 18 rebounds, three assists, 11 blocks and four steals against Brown, Jacksonville and Grand Canyon. Offensively, he finished with 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

Malcolm Bernard (FAMU) shot 50-percent (6-of-12) from the floor to finish with 18 points, one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal against FIU.
Jordan Butler (NSU) averaged 10.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 blocks against Old Dominion and Alabama.
Patrick Cole (NCCU) finished with 32 points, including four 3-pointers, two rebounds, eight assists and five steals against Montreat and Mississippi State.
Rashaun Madison (NCCU) posted a career-high 21 points and nine steals in a victory over Montreat.
Devin Martin (UMES) registered 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal against Saint Joseph’s (Pa.).
Jordan Potts (B-CU) averaged 18.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals against Brown, Jacksonville and Grand Canyon.
Trevon Seymore (CSU) hauled in a career-high 22 points, including three 3-pointers, against Creighton.
Jeff Short (NSU) averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists against Old Dominion and Alabama.
