Pirates drop home return to Princeton
HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University men’s basketball team returned home for the first time since Nov. 20 on Sunday, falling 89-59 to Princeton.
The Pirates fell to 5-7 overall on the season.
Senior guard Brian Darden led three Pirates in double figures with 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting, while guard Quinton Chievous added 14 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Reginald Johnson, Jr., added 12 points, going 4-for-15 from the floor.
Senior forward Dionte Adams grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Pirates shot 30.3-percent (20-for-66) from the floor, hitting six of their 22 3-pointers (27.3 percent) and going 13-for-19 (68.4-percent) from the free throw line.
Both teams had 41 rebounds.
Princeton (8-4) shot 53.8-percent (35-for-65) from the floor and made 12 of its 31 3-pointers (38.7-percent).
Henry Caruso led five Tigers in double figures with 14 points.
The Pirates will resume MEAC play on Wednesday, heading to Baltimore, Md. to take on Morgan State.

Moody scores 15 in Bethune-Cookman loss
PHOENIX – Mario Moody scored 15 points in Bethune-Cookman’s 74-53 loss at Grand Canyon Sunday night.
Grandy Glaze scored 20 points and snagged eight rebounds as the ‘Lopes (13-2) won their sixth straight while handing the Wildcats (4-11) their seventh consecutive defeat.
Ricky Johnson scored eight of his 11 points in the opening four minutes of the second half as Bethune-Cookman got within 42-32, but the ‘Lopes pulled away to a 64-41 advantage with 6:26 left.
Dominic McGee scored 13 points and Joshua Braun 12 for Grand Canyon, coached by former NBA All-Star Dan Majerle.
B-CU continues its seven-game road trip next weekend as it resumes Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with key games at Hampton Saturday and Norfolk State next Monday.
