Pollard paces Lady Hornets by Lady Eagles

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State women’s basketball team (6-13, 3-3 MEAC) pulled out a 66-56 victory at home on Wednesday evening over the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles (3-14, 2-5 MEAC), thanks to forward NaJai Pollard tallying career-highs in points (23), rebounds (15) and field goals made (11), in addition to guard Aaliyah Davis nearly registering a triple-double totaling 11 points (5-of-12), 10 assists and nine boards.

With this win, the Hornets surpassed last season’s overall (5) and conference (2) win totals, along defeating the Eagles for the first time since a 58-49 home triumph on Feb. 2, 2013.

Freshman guard Dominique Adams paced NCCU with 14 points while junior guard Morgan Jones had another strong performance with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals to join her in double figures for the guests.

Coppin State Remains Undefeated In MEAC Home Games With Win

BALTIMORE, Md. - Keena Samuels torched North Carolina A&T State for a career high 25 points as the Coppin State Lady Eagles cruised past the Aggies for a 65-59 victory Wednesday evening January, 27 in PEC Arena.
 
After the Aggies took a 50-49 lead with five minutes to play in the second half, a steal and layup by Samuels sparked a 7-0 Lady Eagles run. North Carolina A&T State never recaptured the lead.
  
Coppin State (6-11, 3-2) remains undefeated in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) home games this season.
 
Senior Omaah Tayong recorded a double double in her seventh start of the season with 15 points and tied a season best with 13 rebounds. Jordan Swails added 12 points and seven rebounds for the hosts. 

The North Carolina A&T State Aggies (9-10, 5-3) are now 2-2 in their last four MEAC games.  Aprill McRae led the Aggies with 10 points and five rebounds. Christina Carter added nine points, six rebounds and four assists for North Carolina A&T State.
