BALTIMORE – Coppin State senior men's track and field student-athlete Javron Keene was named the 2015-16 president of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (MEAC SAAC).
It's the latest impressive honor for Keene, who is a leader of many major organizations. He is currently the president of his fraternity Phi Beta Sigma's Delta Delta chapter, vice president of the Prestige Step team and of course, the president of Coppin State's SAAC.
A psychology major and New Haven (Conn.) native, Keene's career goal is to become a clinical psychologist. He has visions of fulfilling his residency requirement in neuropsychology. On the track, Keene, who is a thrower, has goals this season of earning All-MEAC honors as well as setting school records in his specialty events, the hammer and weight throws.
Coppin State's SAAC is comprised of 20 student-athletes from its 14 intercollegiate athletic programs. In addition to Keene, Coppin State's officers are Alethia Edwards of women's track and field (vice president) and Ashley Milo of women's tennis (secretary).
Making important contributions to Coppin State's SAAC this year will be Candice Beverly (women's basketball), Vanessa Neal (women's basketball), Lawrence Fejokwu (men's basketball), Lucian Harris (men's basketball), Izais Hicks (men's basketball), Gavin Lewis (men's tennis), Precious Udofe (women's tennis), Shelby Mendoza (softball and bowling), Jacquez Hunn (baseball), Myles Taylor (baseball), Jasmine Newman (bowling), Bailee Jackson (volleyball), Glory Rosado (volleyball), Delroy Davis (men's track and field), Steven Thomas (men's track and field), Alexis Marsh (women's track and field) and Kiersten Bond (women's track and field).
Joining Keene on the MEAC SAAC executive officer board are Charmia Graham of Savannah State (vice president) and Maya Moore of Hampton (secretary).

The purpose of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (MEAC SAAC) is to foster a unified forum, which provides equal and representative dialogue from MEAC student-athletes relating to NCAA and Conference legislation as well as other issues that affect their welfare. Further, this committee would strive to maintain a positive environment that cultivates a healthy relationship between the athletic administrators and the student-athletes. The Committee is dedicated to maintaining a positive commitment to support and value diversity and equity among student-athletes.
