B-CU men place third; women fourth at FL Invitational

TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- Daniel Kiptoo and Xavior Walton led a 1-2 finish for the Bethune-Cookman Friday evening at the FLrunners.com College Invitational.

Kiptoo, a freshman and Walton, a sophomore competing in his hometown, clocked 5K times of 16:03.1 and 16.25.8 respectively for the Wildcats. Kiptoo had finished second in each of the first two meets of the season.

Team-wise, the Wildcats were third in the men's six-team field. Cross county rival Stetson won with 39 points, followed by Ave Maria (57) and B-CU.

Other B-CU times and finishes included Ronald Simpson (18:40.4, 24th); Donovan Frater (20:08.7,36th); Brent Heholt (20:18,38th) and Chris Collins (20:44.9, 42nd).

In the women's race, Bethune-Cookman was fourth in the eight-team field. UCF and Stetson led the way with 20 and 39 points, followed by South Florida State (109) and B-CU (139).

B-CU finishes and times included Deja Davis (13th, 20:10.6); Brianna Pollock (14th, 20:14.4); Zierra Martin (41st, 22:03.8); Nia Ruth (42nd, 22:14.9);Alexus Harris (43rd, 22:16.4) and Julia Porter-Mills (51st,22:57.5).
