MEAC ANNOUNCES MEN?S AND WOMEN?S CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina A&T State junior Darren White and Florida A&M junior Cynthia Chelelgo were selected the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

White (Jr., Waldorf, Md.) posted a second-place finish at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational. He recorded a time of 25:32.50 on the 8K course.

Chelelgo (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) finished eighth at the Mountain Dew Invitational. She completed the 5K course with a season-best time of 18:07.87 to help the Lady Rattlers finish fifth.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Karen Escobedo (MSU) finished 14th, with a time of 19:13.57, at the 5K Cappy Anderson Invitational.

Lunnise Gibson (CSU) ran a career-best time of 21:40.11 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.

Helen Griffith (NCAT) posted a time of 19:33 at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational.

Jennaya Hield (UMES) placed 15th at the Cappy Anderson Invitational, with a time of 19:22.99.

Jordan Leon (UMES) registered a time of 25:34.47 to place 12th at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.

Mark London (CSU) ran a career-best time of 26:31.22, to finish 26th, at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
