B-CU Scheduled for 11 meets during 2015-16 season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Bowling will compete in 11 tournaments during the 2015-16 season, including a return  trip to five from a season ago, as the schedule was announced Monday evening by third-year head coach Charles Thomas.

Returning four letterwinners from a season ago, including three starters, the Wildcats will open the 2015-16 slate on October 16. The Cats travel to a familiar season-opening event, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational hosted by Tulane. The tournament runs October 16-18, in Kenner, Louisiana.

Finishing last year with Rebecca Goodwin earning All-MEAC honors and the team turning in an overall record of 61-53 (15-9 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), the Cats travel to the Fairleigh Dickinson New Jersey Jamboree for their next tournament of the campaign. That event runs October 30-November 1, taking place in Elmwood, New Jersey.

The month of November continues with two more away tournaments, as B-CU participates in the first MEAC Southern Division event (Nov. 14-15) in Norfolk, Virginia, followed by the Hornet Classic (Nov. 20-22) in Montgomery, Alabama. Norfolk State hosts the first MEAC Southern Division, while Alabama State hosts the third annual Hornet Classic.

Just a single competition takes place in December, that being a home event for the Maroon and Gold, as B-CU hosts the second MEAC Southern Division (Dec. 5-6) at Sunshine Bowling Center in nearby DeLand, Florida.

The 2016 calendar year begins with a trip to the Kutztown Invitational (Jan. 22-24) in Reading, Pennsylvania, followed by the FAMU Invitational (Jan. 29-31) in Pensacola, Florida.

B-CU returns home to begin February, as Florida’s largest collegiate bowling event annually returns to Sunshine Bowling Center with the Cats hosting the Wildcat Invitational. The event runs February 5-7, and will be in nearby DeLand, Florida once again. Florida A&M hoists the final MEAC Southern Division of the season Feb. 27-28, that tournament taking place in Tallahassee, Florida.

The lone regular season event of March takes place in Smyrna, Tennessee, with B-CU taking part in the Music City Classic for the fourth consecutive year. The event is annually one of the largest on the east coast, with nationally-ranked Vanderbilt hosting the tournament at the AMF Lanes. The dates for the tournament are March 18-20.

The MEAC Championships are once again housed at AMF Lanes in Chesapeake, Virginia, as Norfolk State serves as the host institution for the fourth-straight year. The tournament runs March 24-26.
