MEAC ANNOUNCES VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Zuzana Ondruskova was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week. Teammate Lucia Babic earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.

Ondruskova (OH, 5-10, Fr., Bilovec, Czech Republic) averaged a double-double of 12.33 kills and 10.67 digs during three matches at the UMES Fall Fling. She finished with 16 kills, 10 digs and four service aces in a five-set victory against Loyola (Md.), and earned all-tournament honors for her efforts.

Babic (OH, 5-10, Fr., Sisak, Croatia) totaled 27 kills, five blocks and four digs to help the Lady Hawks win three matches at the UMES Fall Fling. She registered 13 kills and hit. 333 in a 3-2 win against Loyola (Md.).

 

Other Top Performers: 

Brianna Dafney (SCSU) tallied 17 kills, six digs, two assists and two service aces in a loss to The Citadel.

Angie Darcus (NSU) registered eight kills, eight digs and three service aces in a 3-2 victory over Alabama State.

Evely Macedo (MSU) totaled 52 kills, 23 digs, five service aces and five blocks at the Maddie Bingaman Invitational.

Kelsey Murphy (NCCU) registered a career-high 27 kills, along with nine digs and three service aces, in a loss to Loyola (Md.) at the UMES Fall Fling.

Cindy Okpegbue (CSU) posted a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs, with three service aces, in a 3-1 victory over Rider at the Maddie Bingaman Invitational.

Samantha Polk (CSU) tallied a career-high 16 kills, with five digs and four blocks, in a 3-1 win against Rider.

Hazel Ortiz-Rosado (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 18 assists and 10 digs in a loss to Florida Atlantic.

Melanie Williams (SCSU) totaled 95 assists, 21 digs and four service aces at the UNC-Asheville Invitational.
