Ferguson Joins NCCU Volleyball Coaching Staff

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball program has announced Rachel Ferguson as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2015 season on Thursday.

“We are excited to have Rachel join the NCCU volleyball program,” said second year head coach Nicki Holmes. “She already has a lot of experience which will benefit our program tremendously and she comes from a winning tradition that will help us compete in the upcoming season.”

Ferguson’s primary responsibilities will be to help with Data Volley game stats and coaching NCCU’s setters.

Ferguson will be completing her thesis towards a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) while assisting the Lady Eagles this year.  She has served as an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach for the Dubuque Spartans in 2013 and 2014.

Prior to Dubuque, Ferguson was a four year letter winner at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. She totaled 2,551 assists from the setter position. Ferguson was instrumental in leading the Student Princes to three Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championships, one OAC Tournament Championship and four consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearances with a career record of 111-35. She was a three time floor captain and a team captain her senior season.

Ferguson graduated from Heidelberg with a Bachelor of Arts degree in media communications in 2013.
