PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Last year the men’s cross country squad capped off an excellent season with a MEAC Championship. This fall the team will put their title defense on the line with a series of challenging meets, both home and away.
It all kicks off on September 5th in Princess Anne with the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.. The ladies will race first, followed by the men. On September 12th, the Hawks hop on the bus to Newark, Del. for the University of Delaware Invitational. Race times will start at 10:00a.m. at White Clay Creek State Park. One week later the team returns home to take on several opponents at the Cappy Anderson Invitational on the 19th.
After an open weekend UMES hits the road for three different meets in October. A trip to Smyrna, Del. awaits on the 3rd as the Hawks will compete in the DSU Farm Run Invitational, starting at ten in the morning. Following an off week will be a trek to the Garden State to close out the regular season at the Princeton Invitational on the 17th, also starting at ten.
Two weeks later the Hawks will make a second trip to Smyrna for the MEAC Cross Country Championships on October 31st. The first race will commence at 9:45a.m. with the second race coming immediately afterward.
Those athletes would qualify can then move on to race in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, which will be held back in Princeton on November 14th, starting at noon. The final race of the season also requires qualification — the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the Bronx on November 21st, beginning at ten in the morning.
