Hampton's Babinsack named VaSID Second Team All-State

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Hampton University freshman Allyson Babinsack was named Second Team All-State on Friday, as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the 2015 University Division All-State Teams.

Babinsack (Hampton, Va.) was a First Team All-MEAC selection this past season after winning a team-high 15 games in the circle and posting a 3.26 ERA. In 144 innings pitched, Babinsack struck out 115 batters and held opposing batters to a .272 average.

She threw 16 complete games and had three shutouts on the season.

From March 24 through April 18, Babinsack won nine straight decisions, including a season-best nine-strikeout performance on April 12 against Howard. She followed that up on April 18 with eight strikeouts against Maryland Eastern Shore.

She was a two-time MEAC Pitcher of the Week this past season. On March 31, Babinsack was also named ECAC Div. I South Pitcher of the Week.

In addition, Babinsack was third on the team in hitting this past season, going .304 and driving in a team-high 37 runs. She also led the Lady Pirates with 11 doubles on the season, and Babinsack was second on the team with four home runs.

She had three hits in a game twice: against Bucknell on March 13 and against Delaware State in the MEAC Tournament on May 8.

Babinsack was also third on the team in both slugging percentage (.471) and on-base percentage (.379).

She was also a two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week this past season.

James Madison swept the yearly award; Jailyn Ford was named VaSID Player of the Year, while Megan Good was named both Rookie and Pitcher of the Year and Mickey Dean was named VaSID Coach of the Year.
