MEAC HONORS SIX SOFTBALL GRADUATING SENIORS

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) recognized six graduating softball student-athletes on Thursday afternoon at the Ormond Sports Complex during the 2015 MEAC Softball Championship.

The ceremony took place prior to the 1:30 p.m. contests, with the seniors who would miss their graduation on their respective campuses due to their athletic commitments at the championship tournament.

“We want to salute these six student-athletes who have earned their collegiate degrees while maintaining their athletic commitment to their institution, teammates and coaches,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis Thomas said. “Although they do not get to celebrate with their class at their institution, we are excited to recognize these student-athletes for their hard work and dedication in the classroom and hopes this ceremony, in their honor, shows our gratitude for their dedication to procuring their degrees.”

Hampton’s Kerissa Burrel (Criminal Justice), Ranelle Taylor (Psychology) and Jailynn Jackson (Psychology), Howard’s Jenny Ly (Art), Norfolk State’s Sommer Di Fulgo (Psychology) and Elizabeth Riley (Business Management) were honored in the ceremony.
