MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY MEN?S AND WOMEN?S TENNIS HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State’s Pascal Domnik and Krystal Scott were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. North Carolina Central’s Kert Kilumets and Bethune-Cookman’s Maria Garoz-Mareno were selected as the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Rookies of the Week.

Domnik (Sr., Balingen, Germany) finished a perfect week with a 3-0 record, including 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position, against North Carolina A&T State and Chowan.

Scott (Sr., Gold Coast, Australia) registered a 3-0 record in singles action, along with doubles victories over North Carolina A&T State and Chowan. She dropped four games in the five matches.

Kilumets (Fr., Kuressaare, Estonia) recorded a 4-0 record for the week, including 3-0 in singles play, without dropping a set.

Garoz-Mareno (Fr., Cadiz Spain) went 2-0 for the week, with a straight-set victory over South Carolina State’s Andjela Vasic.

Other Top Performers:

William East (NCCU) secured singles victories over Shaw’s Diego Choque, Boston College’s Aidan McNulty and Hampton’s Miguel Suarez.

Dajana Cvjetkovic (NSU) earned victories at the No. 1 singles position over North Carolina A&T State’s Nadia Hilton-Adams and Chowan’s Natalia Kamenshchikova.

Aleksandra Manolova (UMES) registered a three-set victory against Virginia Wesleyan in singles play.

Mina Matsuba (B-CU) tallied a 6-2, 6-3 victory over South Carolina State’s Oleksandra Filippova.

Aissa Muamba (NCCU) went 5-1 for the week, including 3-0 in singles action, with wins against Western Carolina, Longwood and North Carolina A&T State.

Antonio Pejic (NSU) posted a 2-0 singles record, with victories over North Carolina A&T State and Chowan.  

DeTonya Price (UMES) recorded a straight-sets victory 6-4, 6-4, in singles play against Virginia Wesleyan.
