NSU Assistant AD Elected to Leadership Position within NACADA

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State assistant AD Jacqueline Nicholson was recently elected to the leadership position of Advising Student Athletes Commission Chair within the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

As part of her new position, Nicholson will have the opportunity to contribute both to NACADA and the profession of advising and higher education in general, not just within athletics.

Her specific duties will include providing leadership and direction to the commission as well as promoting the participation in commission activities and conference programming. Nicholson will also facilitate activities and publications while contributing to the general body of knowledge of the commission.

Nicholson will begin her role in October at the end of the NACADA annual conference in Las Vegas and will serve in the position until October of 2017.

Currently in her seventh year overall at Norfolk State, Nicholson has served as the assistant athletics director for academic support the previous five years. In her capacity as assistant AD, Nicholson oversees the operations of the Student-Athlete Academic Support Office while also advising student-athletes on eligibility requirements and monitoring their progress toward degrees.
