2015 MEAC Men?s Golf Championship: Day Two

SAVANNAH, Ga., April 24, 2015 - Georgia Regents of Augusta men’s golf team continued its dominance on the course, leading in the second round of the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Golf Championship by 36 strokes on Friday at the Crosswinds Golf Club.

The Jaguars combined to shoot a 19-under par 281 through today’s 18-hole round.  They are currently 7-under par 557 through 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament.

GRU’s Robin Petersson leads the field with a 5-under par 67 to grab the overall lead from yesterday’s leader and teammate Broc Evette.  Pettersson carded eight birdies, one bogey and one double for the day.

Everett currently sits at a tie for third with Bethune-Cookman’s Ian Clark, at 2-under par 142.  Everett fired a 3-over par 75 and Clark finished a 1-over par 73 on the day.

GRU’s Maverick Antcliff moved into second place after shooting a 1-under par 71, four strokes from the overall lead.  Antcliff carded three birdies and two bogeys to combine for 4-under par 140 in 36 holes.

Viktor Edin, also of Georgia Regents of Augusta, registered an even par for the day, and sits seven strokes from the overall lead with a 1-under par 143 for the two days. 

Bethune-Cookman’s Leon Frickner is even after the two rounds.  He registered three birdies and four bogeys to finish at 1-over par 144 for the day.

Bethune-Cookman and Savannah State are tied in second place at 17-over par 593. Florida A&M sits in fourth place at 31-over par 607.  North Carolina Central (625), Maryland Eastern Shore (658) and Hampton (663) round out the seven-team field.

The final round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.

The tournament champion and medalist receives and automatic qualification to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship.  The NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Selection Show will air May 4 at 10 a.m. on the Golf Channel.
