NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University alum Chevella L. Thomas was selected as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Campus Playmaker of the Month.
The MEAC Campus Playmaker recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to their campus. She is the first recipient of the annual award.
“I would like to congratulate Ms. Chevella L. Thomas for her service and dedication,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. “She has made a significant impact on the lives of many at North Carolina Central, including the student-athletes, alumni and employees of the University.”
Ms. Thomas, a native of Durham, N.C., has been an active advocate for alums through the alumni association. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 1983 and in Accounting in 2004. Thomas completed a Masters degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) in Network and Administration in 2006. She has held multiple positions at her alma mater, including Accountant in the Administration and Finance Division since November 1984 and currently serves as a board member for the NCCU Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. and National Treasurer of the NCCU Alumni Association, Inc.
Thomas also served as the Treasurer of both the Eta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and of the State Employees Association of North Carolina Scholarship Foundation Board.
Never far from the Eagle community, Thomas’ impact is visible to the student-athletes, alumni and employees at North Carolina Central as she continues to serve as a board member on the finance and marketing committees of the NCCU Eagle’s Club.
