Lady Hornets Routed by Coppin State in Season Finale, 79-51
Baltimore, Md. - Playing in front of a light crowd due to heavy snow fall, the Delaware State women's basketball team (5-24, 2-14 MEAC) concluded its 2014-15 regular season campaign with a 79-51 road loss to the Coppin State Eagles (6-21, 5-11 MEAC) Thursday evening.
With this defeat, the Lady Hornets dropped their eighth in a row, including their fifth consecutive to CSU, while the Eagles snapped a three-game skid.
For DSU, forward Amber Bogard totaled a game-high 19 points (8-of-15) and three blocks off the bench, while fellow frontcourt mate Tierra Hawkins tallied her 12th double-double of the season with 11 points (5-of-11) and a team-high 10 boards.
Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will head to Norfolk, Va. for the MEAC Tournament (March 9 - 14). Holding down the 13th spot in the conference standings heading into tonight's game, DSU would face Norfolk State in the opening round if the tournament started today.

Tough Loss for Wildcats
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Alea Godfrey had a career-high 20 points, but South Carolina State used two free throws with 0.4 seconds left to claim a 57-56 victory in the regular season finale for both teams Thursday night in Moore Gym.
Godfrey, a sophomore, was 5-7 from the field and 6-6 from the line for the Lady Wildcats, who got a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Hollis, who was playing her final game in Moore Gym.
South Carolina State (16-11, 9-7) got 21 points from Amber Howard and 14 from Kourtney Williams. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and led 27-24 at halftime.
The Bulldogs had a 41-31 lead with 12:55 remaining before the Lady Wildcats made their run.

Morgan State Downs Lady Hawks In Home Finale
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – In the final regular season contest, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Basketball Team fell to in-state rival Morgan State (MSU), 65-50, inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. With the setback, the Lady Hawks dropped to 11-16 (8-8 MEAC) overall whereas MSU improved to 11-18 (8-8 MEAC) on the season.
Despite the outcome, Maryland Eastern Shore outscored the Lady Bears in the paint, 30-12. Senior guard Jessica Long (Fort Washington, Md.) paced the Lady Hawks, tallying a team-high 17 points. With her efforts, she moved into 11th on the UMES all-time scoring list. Currently, the Maryland-native has 940 career points.
Next week, UMES travels to Norfolk, Va. to compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament for an opportunity to earn an automatic bid into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament. Date, time, and opponent is to be determined.

LADY PIRATES WIN MEAC REGULAR SEASON TITLE
HAMPTON, Va. – In celebrating Senior Night with a 64-49 win over rival Norfolk State Thursday night at the HU Convocation Center, the Hampton University women’s basketball team won its fifth straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular-season title.
The Lady Pirates (18-11, 14-2 MEAC) have won eight straight games.
Hampton will once again be the top seed in next week’s MEAC Tournament in Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va., earning a first-round bye. Their quarterfinal match-up will be on Wednesday, March 11 at 12 p.m.
Freshman forward Kaylah Lupoe led the Lady Pirates with her third straight 20-point effort, racking up 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting to go along with five rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas added 13 points.

LADY EAGLES DROP REGULAR SEASON FINALE TO NC A&T
DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Racquel Davis scored a game-high 19 points and flirted with a double-double in her final home game in McDougald-McLendon Gym but the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team dropped its regular season finale to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) archrival North Carolina A&T State University, 67-46, Thursday night.
NCCU (7-21 Overall; 5-11 MEAC) finished the regular season in a three-way tie for ninth in the league standings and will play in the opening round of the 2015 MEAC Women’s Basketball Tournament scheduled for Monday-Saturday, March 9-14. The Lady Eagles will officially find out their first-round opponent when the MEAC releases the tournament bracket.
