DSU No Match for Hampton in Series Finale, Falls 10-1 in Five Innings

Hampton, Va. -
Sunday afternoon, the Delaware State softball team (6-18, 0-3 MEAC) wrapped up its first conference series of the season with a 10-1 five-inning road loss to the Hampton Pirates (11-16, 3-0 MEAC).

At game's end, sophomore Tara Tursellino (4-13) allowed 10 hits, six earned runs and two walks in just two innings of work, whereas Allyson Babinsack (8-6) surrendered four hits, a walk, one earned and fanned five DSU batters to pick up the win. Offensively for HU, Taylor McCoy went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBI, while Budden also went 3-for-3.

Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will return home for the first time this season to take on MEAC foe Morgan State, beginning this Friday with a doubleheader (1 p.m. | 3 p.m.), followed by Sunday's series finale at 12 p.m.
