MYERS RECOGNIZED ON TWO ALL-MID MAJOR TEAMS

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Mike Myers, senior forward for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men’s basketball team, has been named one of the top mid-major players in the nation by CollegeCourtReport.com. Myers won multiple end-of-season honors from the publication, including First Team All-Mid Major by the fans’ vote.

CollegeCourtReport.com released their end-of-season awards on Wednesday, highlighting the Hawks’ big man on its Mid-Major focused teams. Myers was named First Team All-Mid Major by the fans’ vote, in addition to being placed on Second Team All-Mid Major Team by the website. The Camden, N.J. native was among the four finalists for the publication’s Mid-Major Player of the Year award.

The recognition is nothing new to Myers after an incredible season at UMES. Myers led the Hawks to their best season in 41 years by pacing the team in both scoring (16.1 points per game) and rebounding (7.2 rebounds per game). The senior finished the regular season with the second-most free throw attempts in the nation (276) and 11th in the NCAA in field goal percentage (59.9%). The Hawks’ big man was named to the Third Team All-MEAC by the league, though leading basketball statistician Ken Pomeroy placed Myers on his First Team All-MEAC. Myers is also a finalist for the Lou Henson National Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
