Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Over North Carolina A&T
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Hampton University swept a doubleheader against North Carolina A&T on Wednesday afternoon at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex, taking the first game 7-2 before winning the second game 6-4.
The Lady Pirates (8-16) have won each of their last three games.
Wilkins and Taylor each had two hits. McCoy and Fields each drove in a team-high two runs.
Fields and Babinsack combined to strike out four, and Babinsack picked up her sixth win to get to 6-6 as a pitcher this season.

Walk-Off Blast Boosts Lady Eagles To Sweep Of Cavaliers
DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Dominique Wilson hit a walk-off, two-run homer in lifting North Carolina Central University to a dramatic 6-4 win in Wednesday’s opener and the Lady Eagles kept the momentum in the nightcap rolling to a 9-0 triumph in five innings to complete a softball non-conference sweep of Montreat College.
Wilson went 5 for 7 on the day with three extra base hits and three RBI while also pitching a complete-game in first contest.game one. Sophomore Brianna Hampton, who drove in a pair of run in each contest, then tossed her first collegiate shutout in the finale.
The Lady Eagles hit .429 (21 of 49) in the twin bill and got three-hit performances from Hampton, junior Casey Hargett, junior Angelique Perricelli and senior Emerie Germ.
NCCU will begin league play against MEAC Southern Division opposition when the Lady Eagles host Bethune-Cookman University in a three-game set this weekend including a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday beginning at Noon.

UMBC Runs Past Lady Hawks
BALTIMORE – On a cloudy and chilly day, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Softball Team dropped both nonconference games to in-state rival UMBC, 2-0 and 13-5, respectively. With both losses, the Lady Hawks fell to 3-17 overall whereas UMBC improved to 10-11 on the season.
In the first contest, freshman pitcher Adrienne Guerra had a solid performance as she pitched six innings while allowing only two runs. Additionally, the California-product tallied five strikeouts in a losing effort.
Offensively, the Lady Hawks could not find a rhythm as they were held to three hits. Despite the quiet bats, junior Trenece Nash recorded her second multi-hit game of the season, going 2-of-3 from the plate.
On March 28-29, the Lady Hawks host Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe, Coppin State, for their home opener. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. Sunday’s first-pitch starts at 12 p.m.
