NCCU Nets Bison, 6-1, in Men’s Tennis Action
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Fabrice George won both his singles and doubles match to highlight play for visiting North Carolina Central University in a 6-1 conquest of host Howard University on Saturday afternoon at the Banneker Tennis Courts.
The Eagles won on consecutive days over Northern Division opposition from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) to return home at 5-6. The Bison drop to 1-7.
George teamed up with fellow senior Daniil Gerasimov to win the top doubles match 8-3. Howard forfeited the third doubles slot which gave NCCU the first team point.
NCCU returns home for a MEAC Southern Division clash with North Carolina A&T University on Friday at 1 p.m.

FAMU Senior Elysia Ortiz Dominates As Lady Rattlers Defeat SSU Lady Tigers
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On a day where she would be honored on Senior Day, Elysia Ortiz, led the Lady Rattlers to a 5-2 win over the visiting Lady Tigers of Savannah State, today at the FAMU Tennis Complex.
Ortiz, a senior, majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy, and carrying a 3.2 G.P.A., was the catalyst for the team, winning her singles match over Tiffany Williams (6-0, 6-0). The doubles point was earned by FAMU as she and Symone Townsend, defeated Kamelia Dimitrova and Sandy Lochu. The point was conceded with FAMU leading SSU 5-2 in that match.
The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Sunday at 6 p.m., as they face the Seminoles of Florida State at the FAMU Tennis Complex.
