Lady Rattlers Sweep Colgate Raiders on Fullwood's Walk-Off Homer
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Amber Fullwood’s solo walk-off blast to left field sealed a sweep of the Colgate Raiders in an exciting doubleheader today at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
For the Lady Rattlers, it was a welcome pair of victories, as the team has dealt with an impactful set of injuries that have hampered the start of the season, including starting shortstop Kieifi Myrick, who is out for the season with a knee injury.
The night cap would be all the excitement Rattler and Raider fans could handle. Veronica Burse went the distance for the Lady Rattlers on the mound, allowing nine hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out eight. After opening the game with one score in each inning, the Lady Rattler bats cooled down and Colgate chipped away at the lead to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning.
Left fielder Tashayla Irvis had the hot bat for the Rattlers in the second game, going three-for-four. Fullwood and Toni Anderson drew two walks each in the second game.
