SC State Women Rally to Defeat Coppin State in 68-58 Win
BALTIMORE, Md. - A three-point play by Jazzmine Johnson with 9:32 left in the game broke a 53-all tie and the SC State women's basketball team outscored Coppin State 15-5 in the final nine minutes to secure a 68-58 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference win on Saturday at the Physical Education Center.
Kourtney Williams had a game-high 25 points. Johnson tallied 15 points and three rebounds and Amber Howard had 11 points. Jasmine Coleman set a new career high with 13 points, matched her career-best with four blocks and had a game-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Monday against Morgan State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

Half Court Buzzer Beater by Davis Lifts DSU Over Bethune-Cookman, 72-71
Dover, Del. - Saturday afternoon, the Delaware State women's basketball team (5-16, 2-6 MEAC) pulled out its second straight nail-biting victory, this time with guard Aaliyah Davis swishing a half court 3-point buzzer beater to lift the Lady Hornets over the visiting Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (9-13, 6-4 MEAC), 72-71.
Coming up, Delaware State will aim for a season-long three-game winning streak Monday evening (5:30 p.m.) against the Florida A&M Rattlers. Last season, the Columbia Blue & Red went 0-2 against FAMU, including an 86-58 loss in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament.

Savannah State Drops Lady Bears In Third-Place Battle, 72-58
BALTIMORE, Md. - Kenyata Hendrix scored a game-high 20 points and Bria Dorsey added 19, as the visiting Lady Tigers of Savannah State defeated Morgan State, 72-58 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
The Lady Bears finished the game shooting 28.8 percent (17-of-59) and were 3-of-13 (23 percent) from three-point range.
The Lady Bears close out their mini two-game homestand on Monday, Feb. 9, when they host South Carolina State at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Coppin State, 68-58 on Saturday.

Roberts, Corbo Combine for 51 in 90-71 Win over Howard
NORFOLK, Va. - Kayla Roberts and Rae Corbo combined for 51 points, leading Norfolk State to its best offensive showing of the season in a 90-71 victory over visiting Howard on Saturday afternoon at Echols Hall.
Roberts matched her career high from last week's win over Hampton by pouring in a game-high 26 points, while Corbo was close behind with 25 for the Spartans (8-13, 7-3 MEAC). Behind their scoring prowess, NSU recorded season highs in points (90), field-goal percentage (59.0), field goals made (36), assists (19) and 3-point percentage (50.0).
The Spartans cap their three-game homestand with a 6 p.m. game Monday against UMES at Echols Hall.

Lady Pirates Defense Stifles UMES In Blowout
HAMPTON, Va. – For the second straight home game, the Hampton University women’s basketball team turned its opponent over 36 times, stifling Maryland Eastern Shore en route to a 71-43 win at the HU Convocation Center on Saturday.
Sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.), the reigning MEAC Player of the Week, led three Lady Pirates in double figures with 23 points – to go along with six assists, five rebounds, and five steals.
The Lady Pirates will return to the Convocation Center on Monday to take on Howard at 6 p.m.
