#6 Kentucky Edges Past Florida A&M Softballers, 4-2
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida A&M Softball battled seven tough innings with #6 Kentucky, but lost in the late innings, 4-2 in their 2015 season opener at the Lady Rattler Softball Field.
FAMU sophomore pitcher Kenya Pereira (0-1) worked all seven innings, scattering seven hits, allowing four runs while striking out five and walking three.
WHAT’S NEXT: FAMU will compete in the Troy (Ala.) University Invitational Friday through Sunday, before returning home for a Tuesday night bout against Florida State at 6 p.m.

Coppin State Falls to #10 Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. – Coppin State’s softball team opened the 2015 season with a 9-0 setback to No. 10 Georgia Thursday afternoon in Jack Turner Stadium.
Oashaja Dobie made her first career start for Coppin State on the mound. She pitched three innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks. Samantha Denlinger pitched the final inning as the Bulldogs earned two runs on two hits and two walks.
Coppin State is back in action tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 6 against Murray State at 10 a.m. in the Red and Black Showcase hosted by Georgia.
