Howard Tops Lady Hawks In OT
WASHINGTON – In their first of a three-game road swing, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Basketball Team erased a 16-point deficit to force overtime, but the Lady Bison escaped with the victory, 92-90, inside Burr Gymnasium. With the setback, the Lady Hawks dropped to 7-12 (4-5 MEAC) overall whereas Howard improved to 3-18 (3-5 MEAC) on the season.
Other notable Hawk performance included Jessica Long filling the stat sheeting, tallying 10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in the loss. Sweeney ended her night with 15 points, including three long balls. In her efforts, she tied Toni Kennedy (2005-06) for the most three-pointers made in the program’s history (157).
This Saturday (02/07), the Lady Hawks continue their road trip in Hampton, Va. to face the Hampton Lady Pirates. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.

Morgan Defeats Coppin
BALTIMORE – The Coppin State women's basketball dropped a 62-53 heartbreaker to cross-town rival Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown in the Physical Education Complex Monday afternoon.
Junior forward Janelle Lane led the way with 12 points for Coppin State. She also managed to throw five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal into the mix. Lane has recorded double figures in scoring ten times this season.
Coppin State will need to dig deep as it begins the second half of conference play on Saturday when it hosts South Carolina State at 2 p.m.

NCCU Nets 25 Unanswered Points To Defeat FAMU For Third Consecutive Victory
DURHAM, N.C. – A 25-0 second-half run for the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team is what landed NCCU its 59-48 come-from-behind conquest against the Florida A&M University Rattlers on Monday, Feb. 2 in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
Senior forward Nikki Works earned her first double-double of the season against the Rattlers, obtaining 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Eagles will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina in hopes of defeating the rival Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m.
