NORFOLK, Va. – Amere May of Delaware State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Edward Stephens of South Carolina State earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State’s RaShid Gaston was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
May (G, 6-3, 185, Sr., So. Haven, Mich.) totaled 69 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals against Coppin State and Hampton. He registered 39 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists against Coppin State.
Stephens (G, 6-2, 175, Fr., Columbia, S.C.) shot 87-percent from the floor to finish with 22 points, four assists, two steals and one rebound in a 68-56 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.
Gaston (F, 6-9, 240, Jr., Warren, Ohio) tallied 10 rebounds and one block in a 99-81 conference victory over Coppin State. Offensively, Gaston finished with 30 points and one assist in the contest.

James Carlton (HOW) averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks against Maryland Eastern Shore and Savannah State.
Karamo Jawara (NCCU) finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in back-to-back conference wins against Florida A&M and Morgan State.
Devin Martin (UMES) totaled 45 points, nine rebounds, four steals, one assist and one block in back-to-back conference wins over Howard and South Carolina State.
Jordan Parks (NCCU) registered a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, with two steals, in a 74-59 conference win over Morgan State.
Jorge Rosa (FAMU) recorded 22 points, two rebounds and one assist in a 64-57 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Jermaine Ruttley (FAMU) recorded a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds, with six assists and four steals, against Bethune-Cookman.
Sterling Smith (CSU) finished with a career-high 28 points, four rebounds and one assist in a 99-81 loss to Norfolk State.
Brandon Stewart (B-CU) tallied 20 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in a 64-57 conference win over Florida A&M.
